was a super-canine who talked in rhymes, and was the alter-identity
of Shoeshine Boy. He was usually called into action by
his girlfriend and ace TV reporter Sweet Polly Purebred
by saying "Oh where, oh where has my Underdog gone?".
The TV show debuted on October 3, 1964, on the NBC network
and continued until 1973. |

with a ring around one eye, and played alongside a lovable
bunch of kids called 'The Little Rascals' in the Our Gang

Laika
The first living creature to orbit the earth
was a dog. Named Laika(barker in Russian) she blasted
off aboard the Soviet Union's Sputnik 2 on November 3,
1957. With no way to bring her back to earth, she became
the first creature to give her life for the exploration
of space. |

is a miniature bull
terrier that's only two years old. She's in the new Ewan
McGregor movie called
'Scenes of a Sexual Nature', due out November 2006, was
also in a pop promo for the Norwegian band A-ha!, and
earned a Gold Good Citizen Award. She is immortalized
in a painting, she's the subject of a range of line drawings,
and has even been sculpted. |
